Cross-Country Skiing

A healthy aerobic exercise during Winter, easy to pick up and great for young and old alike!
Salomon Fitness Skis are light weight and easy to move around. Our instructors will be delighted to show you around nearby Rusutsu Resort. You will be amazed as you take in the beauty of nature, the surrounding snowy mountains, rime on the trees, and other exciting elements waiting to be discovered. Skiing through the forest or snowfields is exceptionally fun and refreshing!

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing has become a very popular winter past time. Anyone can freely enjoy exploring the snowy mountains in snowshoes. Forests enveloped in immaculate white snow abound with new discoveries, look out for animal tracks and keep your eyes open for wildlife and the majesty that comes with the natural surroundings during winter. You may even decide to stay a while and take a tea break before you leave the forest. Rusutsu Resort offers several kinds of snowshoe activities. If you are feeling adventurous, the Lake Toya Area Snowshoe Tour and the Lake Toya Area Volcano Tour are recommended. Our guides will take you to explore the mysterious forest where ordinary people are not allowed to enter! Other terrific snowshoe challenges include Orienteering or Snowshoe Downhill.

Nature Tour

Snowfield Orienteering

The basic idea of orienteering is to navigate your way from the course starting point to the finish using a map and compass. The first World Ski Orienteering Championships outside Europe were held at Rusutsu in 2009. The real experience is waiting for you!
